I saw “Galaxy Quest” but not very many times so I didn’t recognize the quote used. I did wonder about how the tentacled aliens over came the Heisenburg Uncertainty Principle unless it was the Quantum Inseperability Principle (spooky action at a distance) then it worked for their transporters.

honestly Sydney SHOULD have the monster. Turns out caffeine has the opposite effect in persons with ADHD or something of the sort. It mellows them out quite a bit
I can confirm this personally for i have ADHD and i feel really calm and focused after drinking a monster

the reason is that in our brains, the part that helps others focus is effective asleep most of the time and when we take take things like adrenal or ritalin or we drink high quantities of caffeine it actually wakes up that part of the brain first.

I get the feeling that one of the perks of being a super in ARCHON is that you can dress however you want most of the time (within reason I assume).
I really don’t think that Archon can afford to have a strict dress code. What with having to really search everywhere to get even one candidate, they can’t be put through the same mind-breaking brainwashing that most grunts get.

I think it’s absolutely appropriate they have such relaxed clothing standards. A standard military wants people to look and act the same within each function, because they need consistency and reliability to create effects an individual is incapable of producing – every infantryman looks like every other infantryman, so when you see them, you know what effects they will produce. The ARCs, though, should be iconoclasts because they do produce effects as individuals, and to gain synergy, must mix/match different capabilities, so looking different emphasizes in the mind their unique capabilities, so once again, you know what you’re getting…

They are also a police force for super humans. Unless you want everybody in matching spandex, like Alpha flight a relaxed dress code helps people see them as human beings (except Dabbler) instead of scary people with god like powers.

I can eat raw cinnamon powder, in small amounts. The real problem is accidentally inhaling it, not eating it. That can cause lesions in the airways which is not fun and takes ages to heal. I usually take my cinnamon in a paste with a little sugar to prevent that. Seriously, it’s not that big a thing to eat raw cinnamon.

You wouldn’t want to eat too much cinnamon because it could mess up your kidneys. Remember all things in moderation.
I use IE because I can use Google Toolbar to bookmark the comics I read, so that no matter whether it’s two days before I come back or two weeks, I can pick up where I left off, no matter what city I’m in or whose computer I’m using. For regular internet browsing, I use Chrome.
Chrome? Maybe I’m one of the two people who really read the user license on that thing. After doing so I decided to never touch it again because I considered it as spyware. If you really must, please consider Chromium instead, it might be a tiny bit better for your privacy.
(I’d recommend Opera (used by me most of the times, because it’s the fastest to operate and in rendering pages) or Firefox.)
Opera is working fine funny that. No need for tool bars either and it gets all the cool bells and whistles before anyone else thinks of them.
Firefox hasn’t had a problem yet either. I very rarely use IE (one Japanese website requires it for downloads) and have used Mozilla products since I first started surfing (or was it just paddling then?) the net with Netscape.
Actually, they do write prescriptions for meth, under the name desoxyn. I’ve done research on antidepressants and antipsychotics once, and found info on it.

I just upgraded to FF10 and I can verify the site is beautiful (well as beautiful as my 12 YO monitor can make it). Yep that’s me all over, cutting edge software running on antique HW.
Somehow I knew Sydney would react to someone trying to mug her like that, also her personality matches that of a very dangerous maniac who should be kept away from the explosives of any kind at all times and also NOT allowed to have any sort of caffeine to drink.

I haven’t read all the comments so someone might have already done this…
I would like to correct your statement of “…meth lite, basically.” and the statement Max makes, “that’s called meth.” Meth, or methamphetamine, is an amphetamine, as ‘amphetamine’ is a class of stimulants. However, that does not mean that amphetamines are derivatives and/or ‘lite’ versions of methamphetamine. Think venn diagram: All methamphetamines are amphetamines, but NOT all amphetamines are methamphetamines.
Why? Many reasons, one of them:
They are both stimulants, and they do differ structurally and chemically by only a methyl group (CH3, a carbon and three hydrogens). However, in the world of chemicals, that lone methyl group can make a big difference. For example, amphetamine taken orally, (a pill) usually takes about an hour for effects to start to kick in. Methamphetamine, if also taken same dose in pill form, is much more quickly absorbed and could in fact cause effects within 10-20min…roughly. (Exactly why meth is so addictive: positive reinforcement).
Increasing the dose of Syndey’s adderall may help, and she probably would have similar side effects that meth users have… but that doesn’t mean she’d be taking meth. Adderall, for most people that take it, is no where near as harmful as meth would be. (As long as the adderall is not abused…)
Anyway, *shrugs* i just know those with ADHD/ADD have a hard enough time dealing with fitting in ‘normal’ standards of task managing and such that it doesn’t help to joke about them being meth (or almost meth) users.

Oddly enough my first thought after laughing about this strip was to correct Maxima. One word for you Maxima: Desoxyn. It is available, but VERY expensive since no insurance I’ve ever worked with will pay for it. That and practically no doctor will write for it. I have worked in a pharmacy for 5+ years. That is the only reason I even know about it. So to correct Maxima, it can be done. ;) But then again she was in the air force, not a pharmacy, so it is forgivable. I didn’t see this in any of the comments, so figured I would add it. Nice story by the way.
.. now we know why she’s so skinny. adderall (btw i think its spelled wrong) is also a weight suppressant. though with the amount she ate earlier makes me wonder.
