Grrl Power #1506 – Let the (not 1980’s arcade) games begin
Trying something new here. I do the vertical double pages when I need to fit more to a page or do bigger panels, but that limits the layout options, so let’s see if this works. Obviously the comic as posted is going to be too small, as I only have 750px of horizontal space allotted in the web page layout (yeah, I know, the page is very Web 1.0), and clicking on the comic page just takes you to the next comic, assuming there is one. It’s not an elegant solution, but if you click on the thumbnail, it should show you the page at full size.
I don’t know what made me think of Sinistar, but I thought it’d be a fun goof to have his cousin show up. Or… his manufacturing branch Mk 1.2 or however that works with sapient evil spaceships.
And, uh… not sure what else to say about this page. Enjoy the fight!
Oh, look who it is in the vote incentive. The NSFW version is finally up at Patreon. Plus a bonus pic.
I think she would get in trouble for doing this. She’d mess up the… floor of the waterfall? Is that what it’s called? The receiving pool? No, probably not that. Anyway, she’d churn things up and cause a ton of weird erosion.
Since you might be wondering, Niagara Falls is about 165 feet high, so Babezilla obviously doesn’t have to be full sized. I’d say she’s about 175-180 feet tall here?
Double res version will be posted over at Patreon. Feel free to contribute as much as you like.

Cool story, bruv. Welcome to the scrapyard in 3… 2…
tiny font…
Even when I open image in another tab I can’t quite read the font in the pink speech bubbles
Did you not then click or tap on the image to bring it to full size?
I had to in order to get the page in its full majesty (and the easy to read conversation between Bluce and Gail).
1500px for higher-dpi devices such as phones (and open image in new tab for desktop), perhaps?
No shade on your choices. I feel attacked with the whole sinistar thing though. ;) I remember astroids and pong. I remember before cartridges, the before times.
As do I. LOL, met my wife for the first time as an interested adult because I kept stopping at a convenience store where she was clerking to drop quarters into the games they had out. 50 years on, glad I did. My parents tried to yell at me (at 25!) for deciding to marry her after only being together a few times, I finally yelled back that I’d known her since I was six years old, just what the hell was left for me to find out! That shut them up, and my mother wound up making the wedding dress – Mom was an accomplished seamstress. That bonded them, and they were fast friends ever after.
The regular resolution of this edition is so low DPI it makes the page almost unreadable even when zooming in.
clicking on the image does not make it bigger, in Chrome or in Firefox
Does on Linux :P
Ok, I don’t remember a “Sinistar”. An arcade game character maybe? How far back are we going for this? I must have just missed it or something.
We’re talking 40 years ago at least. It was a Williams video game where smaller spaceships mine asteroids to build pieces of the Sinistar. You mine the asteroids as well to make bombs to kill the Sinistar. Once the Sinistar is built he runs around space chasing you down while you try to bomb him, all while him screaming out phrases like: I am Sinistar! Run Run Run! I live! etc. Great game imo!
I live!
I hunger!
I, Sinistar!
Attacking all other finalists at once? Makes me wonder if that thing already managed to win previous tournaments and assumes that this is all a waste of its time besides the gloating or if that thing is really really stupid.
I hope that it won’t be taken down immediately and that it has multiple phases like any good boss, so we can get a bullet hell panel with implied Touhou Night of Nights (remix) music.
The survivors of his first barrage look at each other and attack him together.
That would be my theory, but we will see.
“Dis-a-star” Oh dear, that’ll have Pander sending ninjas in :D
Okay, for people who didn’t notice the author’s note, the ‘main image’ is basically a display piece, because the full resolution is too big for the website to host.
The actual, full-size image is attached to the thumbnail just underneath the main picture. Click on that, and you can see the full-size page.
Thankfully this page has a much higher resolution on Patreon.
I was actually able to zoom in and read it there.
NVM, reupload made this version easy to read as well as the Patreon! Thanks Dave!
MECHA STARRO LIVES!!!
As far as double-spread pages go, you could do what Kaja and Phil Foglio do over at Girl Genius – keep it to two pages, publishing one half of the page one day and the other half the next, and provide and elegant and finely-crafted link to the full spread on the second day.

Don’t judge, guys. For all we know, those could be beams of love and compassion.
Options: Tank it – unlikely
Slice the missile open with the sword (reasonably likely)
Dodge, and lead the missile back to hit the Disa-star (Overdone, but most likely) – yes they’re missiles, anything that tracks the target is a missile.
Oh my God, a Sinistar reference! I absolutely love it! That was my favourite video game as a kid. Thanks for that memory trip. RUN RUN RUN!
Macross Beams! Ahhh!
I know it’s unlikely, what with her being one of the stars of the comic, but how rattled/p!ssed would Max be if she didn’t sweep the competition and win the whole thing?
