Grrl Power #1385 – Do your thing – on the holoplinth
Frix’s mistake her is telling Sydney it’s probably okay to mix and match. I mean, the pool of possible selections is already huge. Let’s say there’s 1,000 humanoid spacefaring species in the Milky Way, and Sydney could reasonably be disguised as maybe 350 of them, given they’re trying to roughly match her dimensions and she requires cuteness and probably doesn’t to pretend to be a child. Actually, let’s say there’s only 100 that match those criteria, especially on the cuteness front, like she doesn’t want to be some plantigrade stick insect thing that has a reasonable amount of its population in the five-foot range. That’s still SO MANY choices, because within each viable species disguise, there’s a bunch of variation – I mean, she could just disguise herself as a different looking human woman. Given the things I’ve brought up about body language that different cultural or national backgrounds can impart and how that would add a layer of complexity to aliens trying to disguise themselves as humans and vice versa, a human disguising themselves as a different human is probably the smartest way to go.
But then, they’re not trying to fool people who know them, or even anyone who even knows who they are or are off-planet. They just need to be able to mingle in crowds
Then on top of that, telling her she can add antlers or those moth-fern-antenna things as eyebrows or something? Frix, you might be a mighty space adventurer, but you do not have that kind of endurance.
This is all assuming Sydney doesn’t want to try being a guy for the next however long this trip is going to take. No really being a guy, of course. The haptic feedback of these glowbods isn’t on that sort of level. But just for experimenting socially, it could be an option. Granted it adds a layer of complexity to a situation she hasn’t exactly trained for in the first place. They’re not trying to infiltrate a given species’s society, but walking down the thoroughfare and someone who is of the species you’ve disguised yourself as walks past and taps three fingers to their chin, do you return the gesture? Tap your cheek? Forehead? Tap 4 fingers? Two? Again, they’re not exactly trying to infiltrate German occupied France, but best to keep odd behavior to a minimum.
There is a new one coming soon, I promise!
The vote incentive is finally done!
The update to the TWC image is pretty minor, but the Patreon version has the bonus comic as well as nude versions. I will strive to make the next one more timely.
Double res version will be posted over at Patreon. Feel free to contribute as much as you like.
Perhaps a remotely piloted avatar frame would be the way to go?
From the looks of it this would cause the least problems of pulling it off.
Sydney is wrong. Option number 5 is cute.
Finaly I can comment here. I was stuck on that forbidden bug.
Same here, was beginning to think had been banned (wouldn’t be the first time)
I agree. But cute is … in the eyes of the beholder I guess.
Guess what the next option was :P
I just love the fact that each and every eye has corrective lenses.
Same!
Sydney reminds me of the X-Men’s Kitty Pryde when she was giving Nightcrawler an impromptu ‘fashion show’ after they had been taken by the Shi’ar empire. (REALLY early Claremont days).
Dave you intensly underestimate the level of interest the more thorough parties have in this kind of crowds.
This is a semi civil competition in producing the most advanced fighters in the galaxy.
Several army recruters and spies will be present, most of the sponsors will have direct ties to the regimes and crime gangs.
These people won’t play, but they will be watching and especially winners will be observed.
Sydney arrives on the same ship as Maxima. She will be watched intensily by some of the most thorough organisations in the galaxy.
I agree, but army recruiters and spies are small potatoes. The real issue will be the bookies, which I assume is what you meant by “direct ties to … crime gangs”. An unknown and very small (I’m assuming, based on a “planet wrecking equipment” scale) fight with zero background information shows up and starts winning fight after fight, racking up prize money while at the same time a few people start racking up wins on massive bets on her with ridiculous odds?
The bookies will use any means, legal or not, to dig up any and all information they can get, and that includes tracing her travel and heavily scrutinizing anyone she’s traveled with. Sydney, and her disguise, will be subject to every scanner in the known universe.
I’ve been playing with images on Copilot the last several weeks. Several times I’ve gotten a character image I like, but then it makes something drastically different and I can never get the first image back. Hope this isn’t like that for Sydney.
The Eye-ticle looks like an image generation glitch. the script dumbly reproduces the glasses for each eye..
although … imagine that each eye needs a different strength prescription glass(es). that would be a nightmare.
DaveB, we need a way to contact you that isn’t Twitter or Facebook. The Forbidden bug was very annoying and I couldn’t give you a heads up that it was happening again.
How would Sydney look as…Colonel Bleep?!?
For those not familiar with this very early color cartoon series from the 1950s, just go here…

‘Gray’ with glasses is absolutely cute. Even moreso if sounds like I “heard” it with The Silence’s voice: https://youtu.be/EQZLVwwY2WE?t=73
Panel 5: “Hey, my eyes are up here.
And down here. And there. And everywhere.”
The 403 Forbidden has been fixed? Yay!
Dave has addressed several of my concerns. What if they meet the same people that they’re impersonating?
Just make up something instead.
Also… Hiding Sydney’s Orbs. Don’t hide them. Have the team be excessively bedecked in Holobling as seen at the store at Fracture Station. I’m thinking Witch’s hats with fake Orbs.
Also. Should they all be the same Aliens? A mix would just multiply the already complicated issue.
Angry Shoggoth is totes-adorbs!
Character creation… The longest part of many RPG games process. And that’s without dipping into character stats.
Don’t known if any one else played the old Aftermath RPG, but the character creation process was arduous.
a goblin would fit perfectly
hehehehehehe
