Grrl Power #1431 – Booptions
Sydney doesn’t really have A-Cup Angst. She doesn’t walk around fuming that all her teammates are better endowed than her. She’s even gotten a little used to the communal showers. It’s not her favorite thing, but she’s a lot more self-conscious about feeling a little spongey around the midsection than she does about breast-size. What she doesn’t appreciate, is one of her enboobened teammates trying turn the watch party into a mixed-company show and tell.
It’s a failure of Sydney’s imagination that holo-boobs didn’t occur to her already. In her defense, the last time she stepped on the holo-plinth, she was presented with a galaxy’s worth of cosmetic character customization options. Choice paralysis is one of Sydney’s long established traits.
Here is Gaxgy’s painting Maxima promised him. Weird how he draws almost exactly like me.
I did try and do an oil painting version of this, by actually re-painting over the whole thing with brush-strokey brushes, but what I figured out is that most brushy oil paintings are kind of low detail. Sure, a skilled painter like Bob Ross or whoever can dab a brush down a canvas and make a great looking tree or a shed with shingles, but in trying to preserve the detail of my picture (eyelashes, reflections, etc) was that I had to keep making the brush smaller and smaller, and the end result was that honestly, it didn’t really look all that oil-painted. I’ll post that version over at Patreon, just for fun, but I kind of quit on it after getting mostly done with re-painting Max.
Patreon has a no-dragon-bikini version of of the picture as well, naturally.
Double res version will be posted over at Patreon. Feel free to contribute as much as you like.

Ah, Sydney. Cherish your innocence. You don’t know what it’s like to NEED to wear a bra.
And still your back hurts. (I have had massage duty before)
just wait until she realizes she could probably just go get a gene mod or two (once she stops needing to wear a disguise when she goes out in public)…
I can see that scene playing out now!
Frix: “Sydney, you know I love just the way and can give you this Mod if you really want it, but you must promise to use their Powers only for Good! Also, here’s a Muscle Mod to deal with the Back Pain!”
Sydney: “BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA, DOUBLE D’S HERE I COME!!!”
Frix: “I said, ONLY FOR GOOD!!!”
Ah…but whose to say that the Nth tech orbs med system doesn’t have her genelocked to prevent tampering. Her eyes haven’t even been fixed. Just new glasses. Superpowers but your locked to your current form.
I’ve always thought that one of the orb upgrades would give her a more superheroic physique: a more average height, a more defined body, slightly enhanced strength, more dexterity, fixed eyesight, larger cup size, etc.
Yeah, it might genelock her at some point.
But it makes no sense to genelock whoever finds the orbs when that person might already have diabetes, cancer, and have a dozen other things wrong with them when they find the orbs.
I would imagine the genolock thing would only be a problem if the mod alters DNA. who is to say Sydney couldn’t get the high tech equivalent of a breast implant with the higher tech making it a lot safer and healthier to do
FLAT IS JUSTICE!
This is all going on while Maxima is in a fight potentially to the death?
I like how, in the middle of a presumably exciting action scene, Dave chooses to focus not on the action, but on an audience watching the action, but not even watching the action, but fanservice.
What a comic!
That’s what this webic has always been about: the bits in between the ‘action’ (even when that action is current and ongoing)
And this is why this comic is great.
It might not be a good idea to leave Digit unattended with even the “consumer grade” alien tech.
There is at least one more crewmember to keep an eye on her
A suggestion about the story and maybe moving it along;
When you get an idea for a page, ask yourself; “How does this advance the story; whether the main plot or a side plot?”
And then go “side plot is fun!”
Never stop, Dave. We love ya.
That’s not really what the comic’s about. Despite the presence of plot, it’s not intended to be the driving force of the comic.
Let me offer a counter point :)
The other day I was listening to a conversation between Brennan Lee Mulligan and Matt Mercer, and they talked for some time about the dangers of looking at a story through a lens of optimalisation (or the related problem of ‘numbers go up’)
And last week Overly Sarcastic Production released a Trope Talk about Fillers, where they talked about the importance of having low stakes, plot agnostic episodes within a story.
Both were talking about the importance of having variety in the stakes of the story from moment to moment. If you jack up the tension to the max from the start the story will feel both flat and exhausting as everything is shouting at you for attention while the story has nowhere to go. And if you just steadily increase the tension, never sidestepping, never allow the listener/reader/viewer to just smell the grass in the story, again the experience will be flat and there will not really any stakes because it is not really about a story but about waiting for the next bigger explosion or a parade of jump scares.
I would posit that these little narrative cul-de-sac’s (thank you overly sarcastic productions for the analogy) are pretty important to the pacing of the story. They change the tone, offer some low stakes development, and they give a glimpse into the personalities of the people the story is about.
Does it move the plot forward? That is in my opinion hard to say. Considering that good stories tend to exist on at least two different planes simultaneously, the goal-driven action plot, and the psychological development plot. And often a third emotional-development plot as well. (and yet more if the story addresses highly specific topics). The topless tuesdays shenanigans do not move the plot on the first plane, or at least not much, but I would argue that it definitely pushes the plot forward on (some of) the other planes on which story exists.
Well, side boob anyway.
When I look at Mr. Green, I can’t tell if he reminds me of an asari or a drell.
after looking at the vote incentive, i think i can understand dragon guy’s obsession with gold. Would probably be pretty cool as a displate like poster. Though he was going to do a painting i believe.
Let us REFLECT on the end result, which disarms ones obsession with items that are a tactical disadvantage and pain in the back. ;) (walks away quietly humming baby’s got back)
Seems a little coercive to me, I’ll be honest.
Sidney already looks cartoonish, so having her a slim short-stack would be wonderful. Unfortunately, the rules of drama are such that if Sidney gets bigger boobs, they basically have to be worse than not having them for some reason. She’ll either hate them and be stuck, or be glad to see them go.
Sidney is unique, so I really don’t want her to end up bulky and muscular like the other women.
