Grrl Power #87 – I can see why this might be cause for concern
We already knew that the orbs grant her powers, I mean, she’s the main character of a superhero comic. Whatever you thought was in the tube, it was obvious it let her hang with supers, but for all the Archon people knew, the tube just contained the holy Spork that Jesus used at the last supper, and it only grants the power to eat both soup and meatballs with the same utensil, or the dying flatus of Gogmagog or something.
And don’t worry, I’m not going to reveal an orb per page for the next 6 weeks. We’ll get through them faster than that.
Oh, and I meant to post this originally with the comic, but it was 1:30 am when I did and I forgot, but if you’re looking for some other amusing superhero webcomics to fill the week long gap between updates here, I’ve been enjoying Love and Capes. It’s got a nice toony art style and is cute and funny, sort of a super hero romantic comedy, lots of referenced to super hero tropes, definitely worth checking out. I have plenty more to recommend but I’ll stick to one a week for a while (when I remember) since some of them have decent sized archives.
Also, I realize after seeing the page fresh after spending all weekend nose down in it that Maxima’s waist and hips are way too small. That’s a bad art habit of mine, I need to keep an eye on that. It’s weird how some artists have blind spots for proportion when looking at their own art, I’m sure you can think of plenty of examples.
When I first saw: “where did you get those glasses” I thought he meant sydney, because she went upside down and they didn’t fall off… then I noticed her hair, so her power must have some obvious gravity basis… so I thought that he must pick up on that… then I noticed faulk
Glasses are sometimes carried in a shirt pocket. If they were reading glasses, the general would not be expected to wear them for an interview.
Do the fight orb affect(effect?) her gravity. I noticed her hair did not move as she spins. It an over sight or on pours.
The orb produces it’s own gravitational field which Syd can orient however she wants, so she can spin like that and her clothes and hair are unaffected because hair is still pointed “down”
Yes that would affect how her orbs powers combed. I couple that I can think of off hand energy shield and PPO (not that I am hip. I just lazy. If Syd don’t lie it she can blast me. I already think 3 steps ahead .)
that would create a blast shield. Also I think one of her orbs give her super strength she is just hesitent to punch at full strength. It is a natural reflex that is hard ( and painful) to over come.
Dude, folk like us ALWAYS think three steps ahead. The problem is, Sydney CHEATS. She’ll jump ahead 5 steps just to get a cheap shot.
Dammit, the one I thought was Darkness seems to more fit the bill of Gravity…
Also, in regards to two of your statements, Dave, another excellent super comic is “Spinnerette”, and I’m sure EVERYONE has commented on “artistic blind spots” being very strong in Liefeld…
I would love a t-shirt with the theme of the third and fourth panels on it.
Mty reading glasses double as my dramatic glasses.
I think I like all the characters on this page.
You! Say. That. With. Pride!
Damn straight you say ‘nerd’ with pride.
At least it’s not Ioun kidney stones.
Since the orb affects her gravity, if she was upside down when she grabbed it, would she remain “upside down”? Pr would her gravity automatically flip so she was “upright”?
I can’t believe I misspelled my name….
YOU SAY THAT WITH PRIDE DAMNIT!
that spin syndey did was hilarious.
I just realized sydney has antigravity hair here. Is it the orb causing it? lol
