Grrl Power #1357 – Highway to the sapphic zone?
Of all the myriad planets for Dabbler to be familiar with off the top of her head, she knew that Sol 3 was Earth mostly because Cora is human. Terrans are not a huge population in the larger space society, but a few of them have made marks that put humanity on the “Races to Know” list.
It does sound egocentric, but Max is extrapolating that if Hoss knew enough to know about superpowers, then he definitely knew about supers in general, even though people like herself were classified at the time. He told Dabbler to go through a specific gate, knowing it would spit her out in the middle of a multinational conflict that involved supers, and he knew Dabbler’s M.O. well enough, then it was a foregone conclusion that would involve herself with the leadership of said conflict quickly.
To paraphrase a Tom Baker Doctor Who episode;
Guard, “I’m taking you to the Captain!”
The Doctor, “Excellent idea! No messing about with middle management. Straight to the top! I’ll lead!”
I might be concatenating several interactions there, but there’s a reason Tom Baker was hands down the best Doctor. Dabbler’s version might have been more along the lines of, “Take me to your sexiest leader!”
The Cradle of Civilization to me means either Mesopotamia or ancient Egypt, which is a fairly western point of view, as ancient China had a lot going on as well. I’m just reporting my own biases here. Maxima’s biases trend toward Mesopotamia, because she was stationed there, and maybe visited Egypt while she was in the area, but was never stationed there. Also she speaks passable… shoot, I can’t remember if I said it was Arabic or Farsi. I think it was Arabic.
Oh, and I want to be clear that while Mesopotamia covered areas that are now modern day Iran, and Iraq as well as Syria, Kuwait and Turkey, Max never operated in Iran during Desert Storm 2. Not officially, certainly. She might have flown over their airspace quite a bit, but a human sized object wrapped in a cotton/nylon BDU blend probably doesn’t provide a significant radar return.
Oh look! The vote incentive has an update!
It’s not quite where I wanted it for this update. I kind of skipped over posting just the flats and started shading Heatwave, but hadn’t gotten as far as J-Watt. But I figured I’d post what I had.
I’ll hopefully have more progress soon as things here are kind of slowing down. Still putting the house together after the move, but there’s still plenty to do. The Patreon version is updated as well.
Double res version will be posted over at Patreon. Feel free to contribute as much as you like.
Dunno how much was there before the ice age or during it, climate change would have killed one, then drowned the other for all I know. >:-D
But there are speculations.. :)
Calling it now, Deus has a fursona.
Agreed. That grin is way too familiar…
Realized she called him “Big D” earlier.
His name is ‘Dynotaku’, someone posted a link in the first page
Maybe Deus IS the fursona
Oh, I’m very glad I’m not the only one who sees the resemblance.
Mesopotamia was “civilized” long before Egypt or China. There have been multi-family, permanent structures discovered in Turkey that were 25,000 years old, and Gobekli Tepe, in the same area, is 11,000 years old. The oldest recorded history is also from Mesopotamia, in Sumeria/Iraq, from 3500 BCE, a thousand years before anything comparable in China or Egypt, and Egypt got their civilization directly from Sumeria, hence Mesopotamia being the “cradle,” since it was where civilization as we know it was in its infancy.
… What is that little gray/teal? string Max and Syd are sharing, not Dabbler’s little tendrils on their temples?
Yeah, was wondering what that was as well, can definitely see it on Sydney
I had assumed it was to complete the circuit that the memory-sharing tendrils are either end of, like a jumper on a breadboard, but I might be wrong
Probably something she added so Max and Sydney would be liked too, so they were all in sync with it all.
On page 1352, Dabbler said “attach these to your temples so I can do a serial share” while she holds them up. I guess using her earticles alone wouldn’t work with multiple people.
Its also a double deduction – Cradle of Civilisation + Where I met Dabbler = Mesopotamia. It would be odd if Maxima said “China? But I met you in Iran?”
When the hell has China ever been called the cradle of civilization?
Hoss is giving me Deus vibes…
Conspiracy theory time: So the unicorn dude (Hoss) is acting a bit like Deus, and Dues has a giant scar on his face where a unicorn horn could go if he was a transformed unicorn into a human who had lost his horn for whatever reason. Could Deus be Hoss who time traveled back to correct his mistakes that caused him to lose his horn? Unlikely, yes. But your saying there’s a chance…
The horn is on the forehead, SmugD’s scar is between his eyes
And only the unobservant are claiming Dynotaku and SmugD are the same
Lots of people saying that Deus’ scar could be from the removal of a unicorn horn.
But Deus’ scar is centred not on his forehead, where you’d expect a horn to have been, but between his eyes – somewhat further down the face than would make sense.
Thank you!!
Deus’s scar does however line up with the lighter fur on Hoss’s face
The lighter fur on Hoss’ face extends from his muzzle in two directions:
1) Up his face, over his head, and down his back (probably – we haven’t seen a good view of his back).
2) Down the front of his neck and chest in a broad swathe.
*If* it was necessary to surgically remove that skin (and I don’t see why it would be, if all the fur’s coming off), it would leave much more scarring than Deus’ simple, if obvious, X.
Never mind that the X shape is less likely than a straight line running down the centre of his face, should the pale-furred skin need removal.
Maybe Deus IS the fursona
