Grrl Power #1424 – Sisters helping sisters doing it for themselves
I was amused at people under the previous comic speculating on the dire nature of Harem’s emergency, or “womergency” (admittedly a weak portmanteau). But some people guessed correctly.
As it’s been stated, Cora has a type. The type of guys that require her to have biomods other than the one that gives her blue skin and photosynthesis. By the way, the bottom middle panel of that page which is supposed to imply a gross X-Ray shot of something pornographic was originally a photo of lasagna. It’s possible that having a succubus as a friend had some effect on Cora’s predilections. Of course, she also went to Alien Middle and High School, so she grew up around aliens of all sort of heights and widths and textures. Maybe she was a fan of the Alien High Basket Ball Team, full of guys over 2 Meters and Atomic Supermen.
Sydney’s mistake was assuming that Harem’s talk of “I’m making out with Altus,” wasn’t actually “So I’m making out with Altus the other day…” I don’t know what tense that is. Pluperfect Hypojunctive? It’s probably not a formal tense.
Here’s one of Gaxgy’s in progress shots of the painting Maxima promised him. Weird how he draws almost exactly like me.
Seriously though, I’d like to try to do a version of this that actually looks oil painted when it’s done, and preferably not just a Photoshop Oil Paint filter. I bought a paint program called Rebelle, that’s like a paint program. Like Corel Painter, it’s all about simulating natural media. I’ve had it installed for like 6 months and I’ve maybe used it for a total of about 12 minutes. If I was smart, I’d spend 30 minutes every morning painting along with the Bob Ross YouTube stream to familiarize myself with the program and painting techniques in general, but I know I’m not going to do that, so we’ll see how repainting the finished version of this goes.
Patreon doesn’t have a nude version yet, but I’ll try and update this each week until it’s done.
Double res version will be posted over at Patreon. Feel free to contribute as much as you like.

Was said potion calibrated Specifically for Sydney? Dabbler would be good at that sort of thing. Height and weight aside, there could be some Interesting side effects here to the tune of:
“WHY isn’t this Working?!” *shcooolp* “FRIX! HELP! STUCK!”
I don’t remember when (I found the original page with the potion – 965 for those curious), but there was some point where Dabbler made it a point to talk about her potion’s quality and lack of side effects. Being magical in nature, it’s probably not something that needs adjustment for individual imbibers, although that’s certainly possible. My guess is getting the dosage wrong just makes it a bit less or more effective, depending on if you went under of over the dosage. In this case, I’m assuming under dosage would work out to “still a painful fit” which Harem might still be able to accommodate (her body is larger, more resilient, and has seen action more frequently than Sydney’s) while over dosage would work out to “a loose fit.” In Harem’s case, only the former would be a risk, and she might still be able to accommodate him with the under dosage potion’s help (her body is larger, more resilient, and has seen action more recently and frequently than Sydney’s at the time she started dating Frix).
That would be a terrible potion.
It’s an ACCOMMODATION potion. It should always aim for a perfect fit for whichever extremities are being used in whatever orifices, so it’s never going to result in a loose fit or too much friction. I’d expect dosage, if reasonably sufficient to have an effect, modifies duration, not much else.
So it could allow a pixie to accommodate Godzilla?
Wow, pixie and godzilla, you have a special imagination, I can say that with complete confidence, LOL.
pixies can already do that, they’re stretchy *giggles*
Heathens, all of you!
You are a teleporter with multiple bodies.
Go ask Xuriel for a potion and ‘port it over, you bloody MOOCHER!
This, but I’m guessing “time’s a factor, Lois”. Harem could definitely pop over tomorrow with a case of the potion, given it’s a long flight.
How long would it take Xuriel to whip up a potion with which she’s well familiar, or direct Deshantis to a wizard vendor with a triple-x section in their inventory?
That depends.
If it’s necessary for the plot and a side quest would be inconvenient, about two frames.
On the other hand, it could take months or an entire story arc if it would be better for the plot for it to take a while or the author wants to put off the next scene for a bit while they work something out.
Longer than Harem is willing to wait for that dick.
That ship is, I suspect, already docking.
I’m guessing Dabbler is in the middle of something, or something is in the middle of her.
I am 100% certain this is something she would multitask for, considering the multitasking she was doing when that line was made in the comic was to take a random phone call from Sydney.
Sometimes, when you are caught up in the moment, you just go with that first impulse.
Dabbler only had them already ready for Sydney because she had made them as soon as she knew Frix and Sydney were an item. It probably takes time to make them, and Dabbler just happened to have made a bunch in advance for Sydney.
Thus the real deal should be that she can have the potion but needs to bring over a case ASAP.
Halo is the closest source right now, and she’s not thinking very well.
I’m sure, since this showed that one of the others can teleport to the ship, when that other returns, it’ll be able to put in the request to dabbler and show up with replacements once she’s made them.
Who said it was for the stretchy-potion?
Ignore this idiot, they didn’t read the comic
Xuriel might be, ah, occupied, and Harem’s less willing to interrupt that than to bother Sydney.
You’d think Cora’s ship would have an adequate supply of products for this sort of thing.
I think the implication is that Cora doesn’t need them. This is probably a rare situation to have more than one sexually interested woman on her ship that is size incompatible with her male crew.
Or male that is size incompatible with her male crew…
Sure, Cora doesn’t need them, but surely she invites other women on often enough for it to be relevant.
Given that Dabbler said Frix necessarily knew how to use the potion, it would follow that the GUYS would have a stash to use with visitors.
Cora probably needs this sort of thing often enough that she bought a gene mod for it. Or so I infer from the linked page.
Cora has a crewharem of several large (in several senses) guys. If she needed something like Dabbler’s potion, it surely would have occurred to her that Sydney would also and she would have mentioned it from the start.
Cora probably has a body mod for that without needing the potions.
I feel like Daphe should warn people when she starts talking to them while fooling around with someone with her other bodies. This happens too often. Just a quick heads up would be nice.
And then there’s the, um, “stimulus leakage” that her other bodies sometimes experience.
Yeah, but she has no manners and virtually no self-control.
Yeah it’s amazing she hasn’t been court-martialed yet for some of her stunts. Dabbler at least has the flimsy excuse of being an alien.
All Archon members are given some leeway due to the fact that there’s so few of them. But I agree, Sydney could raise hell over this if she didn’t like “Daphy.” Dues did say that the number of “supers” will go up over the years, so things might get stricter soon.
I’m think this is one of her kinks. Rather like public s*x in that respect.
It is either meant as a running gag or one of her kinks.
Why not both?
a running kink
And for this she knowingly risked the lives of everyone aboard the ship in a potential matter-conversion explosion her powers instincts didn’t anticipate.
The punishment for pre-marital and extra-marital sex used to be death. Still is severe in many cultures even today (divorce, banishment, beatings, and even still death).
And yet people still did it and still do it.
When hormones are flowing freely people stop thinking with their big brain and can do some really stupid things.
– The punishment for pre-marital and extra-marital sex used to be death.
Only if the woman wanted to. Biblical law is “if a man rapes a woman then he has to buy/marry her.”
I wasn’t just talking about historic Abrahamic Law (Judaism, Christianity, Muslim), where the laws treated women like property and were more lenient toward men. In some cultures both would be put to death, and Hindu cultures the men were generally put to death for adultery while women were disfigured but generally allowed to live. Hindu was heavily influenced by the class of each party.
But yes, statistically, women were (and are) typically punished more severely than men, and people “of lower class” (men or women) are punished more severely than people “of upper class”.
Just to ad, but Abrahamic laws also occasionally called for death as punishment for both parties for adultery
I think this brings up an interesting point about super powers. There’s an instinctual understanding each super seems to have about how their powers work but there also seems to be inherent safeguards that possibly even rewrite reality to protect the super from dying from their powers. This was talked about last strip but like yeah Daphe could possibly have killed herself and the crew teleporting here. The superion effect possibly just prevents that from happening.
I wonder if the ‘energy differential’ of changing accelerations is ‘stored’ in the Superion field as potential, and gets balanced out over time?
So, say you’ve got a lot of non-physically super durable types (so not armor plating or squishiness, but rather stuff like Achilles’ or Hiro’s more generic ‘super-durability’ or mono-Harem’s increased physical durability) getting bashed into walls or tanking weapon strikes, and the kinetic energy of those strikes go into the Superion Field, creating a higher potential. Then when, say, one of Harem’s Vorps requires her body to accelerate, she taps into that potential for the energy required to ‘catch up’?
Across all Supers (and any/everything else that might tap into the Superion Field) it may overall balance out, or be part of what determines what powers show up, creating powers that have greater or lesser tendency to shift the Field Potential in one direction or another (like Achilles’ power being a purely ‘add energy to the field’ type power, since he can ‘absorb’ damage and entropy and anything else without harm).
If this were the case, maybe Anvil’s power could be a sort of personal version of that system?
Yeah, powers look at entropy and the law of matter/energy conservation and laugh.
E.g. if Max had less than 100% energy conversion efficiency on pretty much anything we’ve seen her do then she melts everything around her in some radius from waste heat.
Sydney flies at Mach 4 for a while, but no heat generated. I guess her bubble soaks it all up and puts it…somewhere. I guess there’s a sonic boom, but with aircraft and missiles that’s not where most of the energy goes.
When the Space Shuttle landed, there was a 30 to 60 minute wait before they could exit. Some of that was to ensure there wasn’t any fuel waiting to go boom, but a lot of it was waiting for the Shuttle and the ground where it was to cool down enough not to cook them.
Far earlier in the comic Deus mention that supers with super strength don’t dies from super-sneezing, since their “powers” protect them in a suspiciously (Nth tech? Intelligent design?) good way. The same should apply to teleporters, that otherwise would die quickly from gathering pollen and similar stuff from the air they teleport into. And, in this case, speed differenes.
Someone should have experimented with Harems teleporting ability on a lower level, such as teleporting from standstill to a moving car. If that worked, it should work for FTL teleportations.
Teleporting to relativistic velocities is very different from there relatively small velocity differences teleporting from one side of a planet to the other side of the same planet.
And teleporting to a ship in FTL could have much more drastic consequences as the energy it potentially might take to do it might be enough to immediately open a black hole of arbitrary mass that expands in every direction at the speed of light.
I’m not saying her powers can’t protect her, but that she had no way of being more than 70-90% sure that the instincts that come with her powers would hit a limit in what they can predict when dealing with FTL-speeds and might give her the all-clear only to mess up and accidentally turn her into arbitrary-mass-black-hole when she arrives.
Or when she leaves – and doom all of earth and the local star cluster. Potentially the entire galaxy and eventually galactic cluster, because arbitrarily high mass. Hence why she should have done teleports from a location in space to another location on an FTL ship before she decided to jump from earth to an FTL ship full of all her friends and strategic national and planetary assets.
Kinda like “Don’t do your self sustaining nuclear fusion experiments in the middle of new york, do them in the nevada desert first”.
Again, Daphne isn’t arbitrarily *VORP*ing to a ship in FTL-flight without an anchor-point (ignoring the fact she isn’t familiar enough with the ship to do it ‘blind’), Bodie is demanifesting (unmanifesting?) on Dirt and manifesting next to Blondini
isn’t the superion field just around earth though?
No, that’s just were it originates
Eh, if she’s done the ‘teleport to self’ thing with, say, train or airplane travel, then by now she knows she can cancel out momentum by using herself as a reference point. At that point, it’s more a matter of assuming that that particular perk scales up, rather than not knowing it exists at all.
Sure, but up to FTL-speeds is a large enough quantity to be a difference in kind rather than scale, especially given the nature of superluminal speeds compared to subluminal. You can’t get up to FTL with ‘just’ more speed.
There’s probably 1-3 universes out of 10 where she just killed everyone on the ship and/or at the place she left (earth), and a few where she makes a black hole of arbitrary mass that expands in all directions at the speed of light.
Xuriel influence on the team continues to grow, I see.
:p
Umm…. the bottom middle panel isn’t blurry…?
Dave was talking about the bottom-middle panel in the reference comic he linked to, here:
https://www.grrlpowercomic.com/archives/comic/grrl-power-756-human-plus/
yea that confused me for a moment too, the “blurry panel” the author’s comment is referring is in the page linked just a sentence before it(page 756)
So, important question, will the potion just affect one of Harems bodies, or will all of her experience the effects? Could be some interesting results.
Probably just one. When one body gets her arm broken, the rest don’t also get broken arms.
They collectively feel the pain of the broken arm, but only the one who had the injury physically occur has the physical injury.
It induces physical changes in the user, not mental ones, so presumably it only affects the one body.
Yeah, a bigger question would be how other-Daphs would be affected by, say, a succubus aura. Presumably, the Horny Field would essentially affect all of Harem, but what about the Horny Field itself?
For instance, if HaremA had been in the room next door to Sydney during The Incident, would the field not only affect HaremB-E, but would it also ‘leak’ through her quantum-superposition, essentially radiating out to an additional 4 Archon Towers’ worth of space, one around each Daphne clone?
(To be clear, no reason it has to work like that–it might just affect all Daphnes at the same time, and come to a complete stop. Just noting here that there might be further consequences.)
Imagine expecting a good time, and finding yourself horribly disracted by physical disphoria/dismorphia from one body affected by the potion and the other bodies being out of sync because they no longer match up with the one body. Harem might regret not waiting to get a custom potion from Dabbler given her 5 body quantum interlink
To be fair… (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jv7jcciKB_s)
Love the Letterkenny reference!
Okay this makes Warp Travel awkward, Harem’s presence is enough to make it a stable location for her to transport materials…. AT ZERO ENERGY COSTS.
LRRP or the equivalent in Galactic terms, no problem
man sized replacement gear for the ship? done.
in flight upgrades become trivial events.
Never-ever miss an episode or your favorite webcomic back home.
Harem’s a pack in the sheets, and a backpack for the Fleet.
There’s a capacity problem. She’d have to have at least three bodies out one at the source of the parts, one at the destination, and one to shuttle the parts. Otherwise she teleports to the destination and can’t get back (unless she’s really familiar with it).
Which means she’d be able to lift about 4x what she can now on the basis that I think I remember a page where absorbing a body doubles the strength of the remaining ones. If it only adds another 100% of strength it’s not as much.
So replacement parts are strictly limited in mass (no I don’t think teleporting in microgravity would help).
Some parts will fit, but others will mass too much and can’t be broken into subassemblies.
yeah that conjugation is weird, it’s just gonna be tense as f*ck
Oh, dear. I think this is the first page where I’ve been able to clearly see her shoulder tattoo. It’s…THAT. I don’t know where I know it from, but I know that I recognize that horny animé girl face meme from SOMEWHERE!
Really glad I wasn’t the only one who overlooked that. Went back and checked the last two pages and she appears to have ‘that’ face from several different sources all down her arm.
if you read further down, it’s called an ahegao tattoo.
Love the Andrews and/or Puppini Sisters reference there at the bottom
Called it!
Calling it now. Harem doesn’t need the potion for herself, but Dues is the one looking for it to replicate.
After all why have a single use potion when it can be mass produced?
Harem just knows that Syd would be the most awkward and would give it away without asking to many questions if only for her own sanity… Especially with the timing of both events.
Not that I would put it past Deus to do such a thing but what profit would he see in it? I cant see that there would be much of a market for the near future. Most humans are having sex with other humans and the fun bits generally fit together pretty well. There are only so many product testing positions at the Really Enormous Sex Toy company. Of course, if Deus had a male enlargement potion….then one product sells the other.
Fraternization between his Galytn supers and the demon army he’s leasing?
It would make the birth process much easier. The big heads of Homo Sapiens babies are not that compatible to the pelvis of a bipedal primate.
Ah yes, the square peg in a round hole potion. That alone would make Dabbler fabulously wealthy. I feel confident that Sydney can find something similar in space. Mostly because space is a premium and nobody wants to hear you scream.
I feel like people talking about Harem asking Dabbler for the potion directly may forget that… we’ve already been shown that she’s somewhat intimidated by Dabbler when it comes to the idea of actually having sex. She may simply be worried that Dabbler would want to join in.
Which one is Atlas? I’m terrible with names
Big red dude with horns. She was sitting in his lap when we discovered there are six of her.
I’m here to ruin Pluperfect Hypojunctive tense. Sorry, it’s just present tense.
The aspect is continuous (really better named BE + -ING) yielding “I’m making out” instead of “I make out,” so the tense + aspect is present continuous (or present BE + -ING if you’re enough of a nerd about it).
Using the present tense to speak about a past time is fairly common in anecdotes. I guess you could call it anecdotal usage of the present tense? Someone has probably given it a formal name. Not Pluperfect Hypojunctive, though.
The ahegao tattoo is very Daphne. I must have missed it in earlier strips.
Her tattoo’s can be “reset” just by her dropping her one-self and bringing it back, so those tattoo’s change now and then. It is fitting considering her current situation though, right? Anyway Sydney had asked her about that a while back. None of the changes she makes to all her selves stick if she de-creates one.
I don’t recall any of this discussion with Sydney, or about Daphne time to reread again
Do you have a comic reference for where her being able to reset bodies was explained? (I don’t remember it)
I think I remember something about that too, but I can’t find it so it might just be someone who talked about it.
Especially since Harem has completely un-teleported one of her bodies before and it did not ‘reset’ it (when he got sliced by the speedster, her body did not completely reset after she re-teleported it into existence again).
I don’t remember anything about “unteleported” bodies being reset.
If anything, there’s the opposite – when pink-hair got it’s arm broken, it was still broken when she brought it back. Hence teleporting in on the middle of Sydney’s doctor conversation that time to rush the healing.
They are not reset, each body has been individually modified (except for Berry, who has either no or minimal mods done, not counting piercings)
I have to admit I still don’t understand how strawberry’s the one who has NOT had any modifications, when it would make more sense if it was blondie, since …. people’s hair are not naturally pink.
Yeah, I know.
Although the hair wasn’t a million miles off “strawberry blonde” in early strips, just *slightly* too pink. While it’s one of the less-appearing bodies (pretty sure Blonde and Short-Hair are miles ahead of the rest at this point), it’s subsequently got very, VERY pink.
I think Harem’s ‘strawberry’ was really pink from her first showing actually. Which I think was Comic #59, at least for the one with strawberry Harem in it.
https://www.grrlpowercomic.com/archives/comic/grrl-power-59-camaraderie/
Maybe that’s the one mod (apart from earrings) she allowed for Berry
Something that is not strictly physical or permanent like tattoos
I know but what I’m meaning is that Blondie is the one that seems to have NO modifications at all, not strawberry, even if Strawberry might be the original.
Would need to check that invotive from Way Back that showed all five near-naked
The thing is, no one, not even Daphne, knows which one is the ‘Original’, she just claims that Berry is as close to ‘pure’ as she can remember (which may or may not include the hair)
LOL, my wife “complained” that I knew how to… Same face too… anyway Daphy, you play, you pay. Cora, if she ever decided to, sounds like she wouldn’t have an issue with child birth, instead needing an educated catcher instead of a mid-wife. My wife, when she was delivering our first, weighed at 99 lbs, he was 9 lbs, 2 oz, a tenth of her weight! A potion like that would have saved that poor woman hours of labor and my hand from her grip ;) (it was a week before it could make a fist.)
LOL, I know. It’s funny when they start complaining about “too good”.
(To anyone going “but – – – “, people, there are books on this fer chrissake. Written by women! Read a few and adapt!)
Daphne better appreciate this. Ambushing Sydney in the middle of the night with a limited resources request AND while already engaged in the lead up is a level of sisterhood that I wouldn’t tolerate from my OWN sisters. Especially since Sydney IS AGREEING TO THE REQUEST.
Since the urgency is the issue, I’m sure Daphne could re-stock Sydney with that potion in slow-time by pestering Xuriel back at the base.
weird fact. The US used to have large junk yards in every town and city so that in the case of war we would have a supply of processed metals to reuse to make more stuff without having to rely on outside sources. The Clintons who were very obviously KGB plants authorized the sale of all this to China.
Okay, hadn’t realized this was a new page actually saying what the womangency was about :(
Borrow? That word implies the intent to return the object when you are done with it, as in borrowing a book from the town library, borrowing a neighbour’s screwdriver or borrowing a lawnmower. That may not be such a great example.
Those potions are one-time use only. Borrowing it would be more along the lines of borrowing a cup of sugar. I guess you could get another distinct example and return that, as with the sugar example. Daphne may end up doing that.
People say “can I borrow” euphemistically to mean “can you give me” all the time, though. It’s okay.
Also, give Xuri a few days and Daph can bring replacements.
This explains why Bodie showed up: Blondini is currently… ‘occupied’
Still not sure why she couldn’t have just asked Dabbles herself…
I think there are a few key points into Dabbler’s ‘situation’ that a few people have forgotten. First off the fact she’s one person in five bodies anything that catches her off guard affects all of her bodies. 2 examples are #72 when Max got the drop on her and the second when she explained to Sydney how she tries to hide her ‘extracurricular’ activities (forgot which episode, but it was with Deus). So if one of her bodies is in ‘that’ situation I don’t think the others will be in a better state.
I had a few others, but I forgot them as I wrote the first one. :P
So Syd only has one left. Welp I guess Max is getting that one for when she hook up with Gaxgy. That will be hilarious if in the next comic strip there is already only one left when Daph goes to look for it.
I’m wondering whether Dabbler made more than one type of potion for Sydney.
Sure, the sexy one. But I can think of dozens of kinds of potions which might come in handy for someone’s first trip to a particular alien world.
Given that Sydney was just awakened from an exhausted sleep, I wonder if she’s thinking clearly enough to have given Daphne directions to find the correct potion.
This may not qualify as a three-to-fivesome, but it’s definitely somewhere in exhibitionism territory.
Honestly, there have been times in my life where I wished I had a few of these potions laying around…
Just saying when I’m around a “5” and someone else is about an “11” in comparison, it can be-
*ahem*
Ow.
