Grrl Power #258 – Unstoppable force, meet Maxima’s face
Except for the broken nose, that’s just about exactly how Max wanted that exchange to go down. Grandstanding is always a risk in the superhero game given the enormous range of abilities, but she has enough experience gauging the relative strength of other supers by now. She saw Vehemence punch a roughly 75 ton Stalwart a few inches off the ground and that gave her an idea of what he could do.
You can see her visualizing her power distribution there on the page, but she wasn’t quite able to max out her armor like she’d planned. She needed to keep some of her power pool reserved for flight so she didn’t get knocked back, and strength so her head didn’t snap back. Her armor makes her less… floppy (in a ragdoll sense, not in a girl on a trampoline sense you perverts… although, I guess in that way as well) but with a punch like that she needed a little extra. She can even crank her armor up so high that she can’t move, but that only happens when she’s actually drawing against her strength for an ultra boost. Keep in mind, even without spending her pool on anything she’s still pretty tough. In Marvel superhero terms she’s like straight Amazings (which is 50 on a 100 point scale, 6 being a regular human and 100 being Thor/Hulk/Silver Surfer level.) Her power pool dump puts her at the 100 point level (in only one stat) and if she draws against her other abilities she can exceed that.
Yes, Maxima’s blood is blue. I don’t have any particular reason for that other than it’s been that way in my head for a long time. If nothing else, that should tell you that her unusual appearance is slightly more than skin deep. Also that she should blush green. I tried to color her that way on the one page on which it happened, but she looked seasick, so I just kept it red. I’ll have to think of some canon reason it happens that way.
So what does all this mean for Vehemence? Stay tuned!
Here’s the link to the new comments highlighter for chrome which I can’t live without anymore, and the GitHub link which you can use to install on FireFox via Greasemonkey.

Well, well, well. Anyhoo, now we’ll see what happens next. If Vehemence is as smart as he’s been thus far, he has an exit strategy ready to go. Preferably slugging it out with Maxima and being teleported out after rest of his crew while loudly proclaiming that “round one was fun”.
What I fear for Maxima storywise can be described in three words: “boring invincible hero”. In short, she needs to meet an opponent with strenght that Marvel Super Heroes would classify “Shift-X”…
The problem with the “being teleported out after the rest of his crew” plan, is that his crew’s teleporter was last seen lying on the pavement with a probable concussion she received from him. I kinda suspect he walked into this with no plan B.
Well, his hold out power is that he can tunnel really fast through the earth as long as he remembers to surface and recharge occasionally while eating a carrot.
Provided he remembers to take that left turn at Albuquerque.
which makes me more and more suspect Arianna of hiring him to put on a show
If Ari did hire V, she couldn’t have paid him enough to hang around for what is going to happen next. Which means he’ll blow the secret right about now.
MAXIMA ARE ROYALTY!!!!! SHE HAS BLUE BLOOD
Who’s da boss? She’s da boss.
Yesssss.
As for Vehemence, now is the time he *should* start being afraid…
…very afraid…
He’s probably starting to believe that Sydney’s admonition (on the previous page) is getting more & more true by the second.
(in reference to my comment two pages ago) *pulls out cell phone* Yeah, Larry? *pause* Hey, remember that fight I bet on?” *pause* Can I change it so there is no page quota? Same outcome though. *pause* Really? C’mon Larry…I’ve been booking with you for years…cut me some slack I didn’t estimate correctly. Just knock the pages off because I think it may run a little longer but I’m not sure how long. *pause* Alright…but if I’m wrong because of pages you are buying the round at the bar. *pause* Alright…tell Sam and the kids ‘Hi.” for me. *short pause* See you. *puts cell phone away* C’mon Dave…wrap this up in four pages or I’m gonna lose a bunch of money.
If that was V’s best shot, you still have a good chance. If he whips out some new trick, start figuring on paying Larry.
Easily one of my favorite pages in the comic~!
Not only is her blood blue it’s a sparkly blue
Does every part of her body have a reflective element.
Maybe she sweats glitter!
Or she is part Unicorn.
If she starts farting rainbows, I’m outta here (at least until the next update or maybe even sooner).
She’s related to Monica? Wow!… she doesn’t LOOK Latina… though, i suppose she could be related by marriage, rather than by blood, especially considering the fact that she’s WAAAYYY too tall to be her sister.
Isn’t Monica the Jaguar Girl? Where does being part Unicorn fit in? o_O
I was thinking Harry Potter Unicorns with the blue blood.
Thought their blood was silver, or is that a different universe’s Unicorns?
So, I guess that makes at least twice Maxima has underestimated her opponent’s power level and had to B.S. her way through it, huh? Kind of Ironic, after warning Sidney not to get too cocky.
Not too much BS. I mean….look at the hit she took. And commenting on the “step back” actually makes her look tougher. I’d say she gauged just about right.
The payoff of seeing V’s expression is worth it.
What is that expression, I’m not even sure.
in the last panel to clarify
He’s noticed her blue blood
Or the fact Max has more teeth in her grin than he does.
Oh Max, you showoff! I see it coming: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwhZwnQNPCM
Sometimes I think she has more Testosterone amassed than the whole team!
Love that internal dialogue of hers! She wouldn’t like to hear it, but there are similarities between her and Arianna.
Unfortunately for V, she can shift that testosterone around to different abilities.
Now I think V is going to see her shift it for achieving the…
…wait for it…
…Max effect.
Oh the pain, the pain…
That’s some delayed reaction.
I don’t know if anyone else has noticed….. but Dave drew that “hit” picture with V’s force also being directed downward. You can see the compression through V’s forward foot. The shock wave is also traveling through the ground. THAT is why V is not being knocked backwards by his own punch.
Well done, Dave.
I just want to say:
I love Vehemence.
Do her powers include the ability to withstand pain, or is that just her natural toughness and/or military training? I’ve never had my nose broken but I’ve had some other serious injuries from time to time, and I imagine that a lot of the hits you see superheroes take should do more than distract them momentarily.
Yes, they are tough enough that they can survive what would kill a normal person, but it still looks like it would hurt to high heaven. I’m sure we can find multiple examples of someone screaming at the top of their lungs in a comic, and 5 seconds later they are dropping witty one-liners again. As anyone who’s ever stubbed their toe really hard knows, pain doesn’t just turn off like a light switch.
Personally, I read her face in panel 7 as “fighting down the pain, don’t show him!”
But yeah, she clearly is used to pain at least to some degree. Considering her background however, that really does make some sense.
Something I really like about this page though is how we actually see the process behind one of those witty one- or two-liners you often read in superhero stories. That “I need a response! What can I say, that.. Wait a minute, I took a step back. I can use this!” is brilliant. :)
Once I get over the “can’t think straight” reaction to major pain, my response is usually humor of some sort (at that point, usually dark humor). For me, it helps both physically and mentally. So I never saw the “injured but spouting one-liners” reaction as that unusual.
it’s a standard machismo trick to try and downplay the pain and distract the injured from it
Same here. At several times in my life, I stood guilty as charged.
I’ve actually got a little experience in this. I broke my nose when I was a kid. My response (along with some crying) was to go to the teacher monitoring recess and tell them something was wrong with my nose. Then during my teenage years, I broke my collar bone, twice. Both times, my response was to just turn to someone and tell them I broke it. I’ve had tons more major injuries, but those are the ones I actually broke bones on.
Basically, when a major injury like that happens, you go into shock and for some people it actually clears up their view on things. It’s kind of like parts of your brain shut down and you run on pure logic. You don’t need to be a badass to break something and just shrug it off; the human body already leans towards that.
She may have gotten used to pain through the testing of her abilities, though that always seems to be a little odd to do…some things are best left testing on the field so you don’t…well…die.
She may also have adrenaline pumping to avoid feeling it.
And of course, there’s just being able to take it and bravado.
Or you could go with the regular fallback of ‘tank the hit, tank the pain’. Usually with superheroes you can count on whatever power that keeps them alive through critical hits can also reduce how much of it they feel. Achilles, for example, with his – and I quote – “proper, aggravating invincibility” he was being happily tossed around by Heavenly Sword and was reacting more to the motion than feeling any sort of pain.
Maxima putting her cards on maximum armour probably absorbed most of his hit for her without too much actual pain, while as a soldier I think she can take a broken nose more or less without comment. She draws attention to it being damaged, but that’s all she does, so we can safely assume she felt it and could walk it off.
I see it like this, when you’re a kid and you cut your finger, the world is ending because you’re not used to pain and you’re also used to being pampered. When you’re an adult and you hurt something, you grimace and laugh it off, but if your job involves you being punched in the face a lot like a boxer, your pain threshold is way higher. As tough as she is, Maxima has been hurt pretty bad a few times. Her threshold is higher than your average accountant for instance.
Ok, I stand corrected then- I certainly know the feeling an adrenaline rush can provide.
The worst injury I ever had was when I shoved my hand in a campfire- 6 weeks of healing and 6 weeks of physical therapy followed. Despite the experience, it doesn’t mean that papercuts I get today don’t still hurt. So from what everyone has said, if you where prepared for it rather than being surprised though, and you had plenty of practice, you could maintain a poker face even against normally debilitating pain.
Also, thanks to everyone who replied- I read all the comments with interest.
How you experience pain is individual and some times dependent on what kind of pain it is. I know I’ve got a high pain threshold, bordering on what some find freakish. Still I would never try some stunt like pushing a needle through my arm, or even through my cheek for that matter. I could probably handle the pain, but it seems stupid to intentionally poke holes through parts of your own body for no reason other than showing off.
I’ve only been in one real fight and that was when a group of guys tried to mug me. One of them tried to distract me but I caught a glimpse of movement behind. I spun around only to take a kick to the face. It was a well placed kick, hitting with the shinbone right across the nose and eyes. Snapped my head back and made me take a couple of steps to keep balance. Hurt quite a bit and made me very very angry. Actually I’m tempted to use some other words, but then it wouldn’t be very family safe.
Apparently that was not the reaction they had expected and they soon made a tactical retreat. Taking stock of the damage I found my nose canted to the side and smarting when touched. I pulled a bit on and after some crunching it seemed to pop back in place. There was a lot of blood on my shirt and I scared the dickens out of a few people as I walked home.
A lot of people think it’s crazy that I didn’t go to the hospital then, but with my nose back in place I didn’t think it was such a big deal so I walked home and went to bed. The morning after I looked like a raccoon. One eye swollen shut with a few cuts in the eyebrow and the other side rather blueish. Nose looked about right though, so I didn’t feel it rated a hospital visit, and eventually it healed straight. There is a slight bump that isn’t really visible but which can be felt.
What I want to say by telling all of this is that you don’t know how you will handle some thing like a fist, or in my case a kick, in the face before you’ve been there. This was my first, and so far only, fight experience and it surprised me how little I was affected by the kick or by having my nose broken. Yes it hurt, but not anywhere near what I thought it would.
Same thing when I crushed an elbow. At first I didn’t know how serious it was. The pain was very manageable slow persistent pain that spiked when I tried to bend or twist the arm. And yes, this time I did go to a hospital, so I guess I’m not totally daft.
The hospital was a new experience. Initially I had a hard time to convince them that it was anything serious, and only after the doctor couldn’t explain why my arm was swelling did he send me to have it x-rayed. I will always remember his astonishment as he looked that the plates seeing the mess of bone fragments that used to be an elbow, while I patiently had to keep repeating that yes it hurt, and yes I had told him that when he had been bending or twisting the arm there had been crunching and grinding, and no I had not known that it was that bad.
Eventually I couldn’t resist saying something about that after all it was he who had years and years of medical education and not me. I was beginning to get a bit irritated with him at this point. What had him going was that I was standing up calmly talking to him when he thought I should be wrecked with pain, unable to carry on a civil conversation. He was quite insistent that I come clean about what drugs I had taken, and wasn’t very willing to accept that I was clean. In fact it had been more than a month since I had a beer, and after that I hadn’t even had an aspirin.
So pain is different for everybody. What you find irritating some one else may find unbearable or the other way around. What part of this is genetic and what part is trained response I have no idea. What I do know is that my father thinks I’m a pussy when it comes to pain. But then I consider his pain threshold abnormal…
And that’s a classic Champions multi-power.
It seems like everybody these days does an attack multi-power with several ultra-slots and then some defenses outside the batch. Heck, even the example templates are built that way. Much more prone to abuse.
But Maxima went with the classic: all powers in the same pool.
I have an idea for why Max blushes red- since her anatomy is entirely different from a human’s anyway….
Rather than blushing because of increased bloodflow to her face, her skin actually has chromatophores in it so that, like an octopus, she can change color. Obviously they might be significantly more limited or less consciously controllable, but their you go- problem solved.
I love “alien anatomy” as a justification because you can basically just shrug off anything illogical and go “not human” and have it be a legit excuse.
I thought it was just a case of cartoon
physicschemistry. But keep in mind, Max is human, she just happens to be in the mutant or scientifically enhanced category.
To quote Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate Abrdiged, “You dun goofed.”
Ooh. Hell yes, Alucard ref.
Doesn’t Vehemnces fist look a little bit too flat in panel 7&8? Being so muscular I think it should be rounder. Now it looks like he is punching with his first finger phalanxes, which wouldn’t make all too much sense.
Yeah. The earlier panels look like he’s about to use a standard fist, but when it’s in her face it looks more like a hiraken.
He may have broken her nose, but her nose squished his hand.
His hand looks fine to me?
Hmm… I think it’s just an awkward angle and forshortening, the final joint of the little finger is hidden by the palm. He seems to have left that finger slightly loose too, but at least he’s hitting with a proper seiken.
The real hand issue is panel 3 – no tats!
Good catch on the tattless hand!
I agree. It is a pet peeve of mine when someone thinks you’re supposed to put the thumb *inside* the fist. I distinctly remember Michael Dukakis (Democratic nominee in 1988) when he came to my campus (I was a university student at the time).
I don’t remember who the woman was who spoke before his appearance, but one of the things she did was claim that “Michael Dukakis doesn’t make a fist like this, he makes a fist like this, and it’s going to hurt when he hits with it!” (Note: The thumb was inside the fist.)
I absolutely could not resist. I yelled back “Heck YES, it’s going to hurt… because if he makes a fist like THAT, he’s going to break his own thumb!”
Another possible reason for why she blushes red when her blood is blue is that when her blood interacts with her skin it causes some excitation factor that changes its color. Various heavy metals do that. Chromium for starters has been known to go from “silver” to “gold” to “red” depending on several factors.
But…she is human…or at least reasonably passed as one when she was younger.
Human, just ask her poor brother.
She was human, before she became the GEoD
“GEoD”?
Golden Elf of Doom! (by the way, she hates that name :P)
She had the gold skin when she was a teen apparently. Along with a brother to tease her. https://www.grrlpowercomic.com/archives/720
I like that page…Sydney is just being Sydney & Maxima experiences (for probably the first time in her life) one of those moments when a standard face-palm isn’t enough. No, only a crouching-in-the-corner-double-face-palm will do.
I got a feeling that was only the first time Sydney did that to Max. We will see.
Easy enough about the blush. How about she can’t blush anymore because Dabbler made her bored of things that should make her blush…
You don’t tug on Superman’s Cape,
You don’t spit into the wind,
You don’t pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger,
And you don’t stick around when she grins…
That, there, made me smile. :-)
awesome!
Thank you for channeling Jim. IMO one of the greatest.
Would there be any chance of you creating Mii versions of the characters so we can take them to smash bros
This has to be one of the best taunts I’ve ever seen.
Can Maxima “minimize in” enough for the medic to get past her armor to reset her nose? Just curious since I didn’t notice a healing factor listed in her stats.
She could probable lower it enough that anvil can reset it
or she can reset it herself since she probably has had it happen before since she knows she broke her nose and i doubt there were many people that could get through her defense in order to do it for her.
Have never had it happene to me, but fairly sure anyone would notice when their nose was broken, unless they were distracted by something else, like their ear sitting on their shoulder
Blood is blue. It only turns red with exposure to air. Look at your veins in your hand or arm, they are blue. Anyone who has had a real arterial gusher will appear to be bleeding blue although the sticky blood all around them will be red.
Max has her defence boosted at the time she was injured so it’s possable even the blood is defended from excessive and abnormally high rate of oxygenation.
(I am tempted to go into hemoglobin and oxyhemoglobin although I am not 100% sure that is the only cause)
This is false. As someone with four nurses in the family and someone who regularly donates blood, the opposite is in fact the case. Your blood is always red. It simply appears blue through the skin.
Blood is red. Hemoglobin found in red blood cells accounts for this redness. In deoxygenated blood, the red is dark, in oxygenated blood, the oxyhemoglobin therein results in the blood appearing a bright red.
Blood vessels are blue. Oxygenated blood makes them appear red, such as with arteries, and capillaries. Veins carry deoxygenated blood, and the dark red colour of the blood does not affect the veins’ appearance. When you are cold, the blood supply is closed off to your extremities and the redness fades from the affected capillaries, resulting in purple-blue tinge to your lips, hands and feet.
Actual blue blood is found in some invertabrates. It is the result of their blood containing Hemocyanin, instead of hemoglobin. Oxyhemocyanin results in the blue colour, in the deoxygenated state, its colourless.
Other invertebrates’ blood can contain, Chlorocruorin, Hemerythrin, Hemovanadin, resulting in the oxygenated colours of green, violet-pink and yellow, respectively.
one of many reasons invertebrates are awesome
It’s possible the nature of her power necessitated an activation of latent introns/psuedogenes. Hemocyanin is more efficient than Hemoglobin. Also, bear in mind while there is no actual copper in Hemoglobin copper is a necessary catalyst for it.
That blue look from your veins is because of the way light interacts with the skin. Skin isn’t colorless, and thus, it changes the color of any light passing through it.
Blood in your vessles is just as red as when it’s outside of you.
Even regular iron is not blue, why would blood be? Blood gets it’s color from hemoglibin, and more specificly, the iron within, that is bound to oxygen (rust. Red)
Hemoglobin is also never fully devoid of oxygen, not even when it’s just about to enter the lungs
I really should have read page 1 before posting.
If at Faust you don’t succeed,,,, =OP
Okay, at the moment it looks like Maxima’s in charge.
Of course, Max runs on a power point pool. Maybe Vehemence does too. There’s some indicators of that — the fact that he gets injured by some things and not others. Of course, he might have a smaller pool which won’t help him much. OTOH, he may have been taking it easy until now. We’ll have to see what Max does, assuming that Vehemence doesn’t demonstrate another power that allows him to scram quickly. Which he might; he’s clearly a lot smarter and quite prepared, so I’d be surprised if he hadn’t thought about the contingency of “what if I’m wrong and they really ARE badass enough to beat me”?
Dunno about the rest of you, but when I think of how the inside of a mind works I picture it as thousands of copies of me all looking at an enormous screen that shows what I am experiencing/seeing/doing. And when most of them agree on something it becomes my opinion. I think at this point all but one of all the Vehemence’s in Vehemence’s mind are thinking. “Hey that should have work/What the fuck/Well that’s weird” and that one who’s not thinking it is -way- in the back (maybe he’s the nerdy/smartest version of Vehemence?). As he’s just standing there thinking “I think we may be totally screwed… should I tell the others?”
End of panel one bubble should be “hasn’t it” not “isn’t it”.
Nope, “isn’t it” works just as well (that’s the fun thing witht he English language: laws of grammar doesn’t exisit outside of school rooms :P)
So Maxima gets GREEN bruises?
That would look cool.
Maxima doesn’t get…. bruises.
Maxima CAUSES bruises.
No, Maxi doesn’t bruise, she gets dents, that need to be buffed out (/quickly volunteers to be Maxi’s personal buffer)
Volunteering for such a duty might get the voluntee dented. =OP
So worth it :D
Made me smile…..hehehe
That was terribly impressive of Maxima, and a very good sign as far as this fight goes.
If we figure Vehemance’s power rating is generally even (maybe he’s a 60 in str, 60 in durability, 60 in speed, no blast or fly), then Maxima the fact that she took his haymaker with full durability should mean that if she goes full strength he won’t be able to take hers. Moreover, he doesn’t have any flight that we’ve seen, so presumably even if he is not hurt much he’ll go flying.
And you don’t mess with CNR. :)
At the risk of looking foolish for asking, but CNR stands for?
Look up the Weird Al Yankovic video .
Which one? Oooo, “Like A Sturgeon” is always a good one
Or “Amish Paradise”…
It;s an awesome Weird Al video about Charles Nelson Reilly and if you watch carefully you can see Chuck Norris’s head on his wall.
You are allowed to post youtube links here you know
I bet V is trying to digest all sorts of things there: she has the chutzpah to take one of my blows, she’s not so durable that she cant be be hurt by me, she’s strong enough that she barely moved when I hit her, and uh is that blood really blue?!?!
In panel 12, Max is holding Vehemence’s right fist in front of her face.
She then lets go of it for him, in panel 13 because he’s retracted his hand – this doesn’t make sense to me. Why would she release him just like that?
psychological warfare. This isn’t a fight, this is a televised demonstration of her power. The effects of his punch just told her that he’s not an enemy, he’s merely the tank in round 2 of the power show.
“You are strong”… just not strong enough.
My theory is:
1)__She moves his fist away from her nose
2)__At super-speed she re-sets her broken nose
3)__She returns her hand to his fist (to retain continuity)
4)__She speaks her line in Panel_12
5)__She releases his fist
She does NOT wipe away any blood, because that requires extra motions, which increase the chance of creating some kind of “continuity-break” (such as a telltale shift in her stance, or in the folds of her clothing), which in turn might alert him to what she’s doing. Releasing his fist is an act of contempt: “You’re not dangerous enough to me to require my restraining you.”
There’s only one problem with Max’s strategy here. You could feel a nose break beneath your fist, unless you want to say that invincibility lowers one sense of touch. Even then, a broken nose is still visibly, well, broken. In short, Vehemence would know if he broke her nose.
The glance at her foot was a distraction. Max used it (along with a quick VPP switch to superspeed/regeneration) to reset and heal her nose. That’s also why she let go of V’s fist.
Maxima’s power chart got me thinking of a possible ‘bunker buster’ move. She puts her stats into speed and flies towards her target at about Mach 2. Just before she reaches it she moves almost all her stats into armor and basically just rides out the impact.
A move-through attack at ‘only’ Mach 2.
For easy reference: “Anything moving at Mach 3 is worth it’s weight in BLAM.” I.E. – an object moving at ~1km/sec carries as much kinetic energy as a similar mass of high explosive.
It’s 3km/sec not 1km/sec – I know this because I’m writing a space battle where ‘sploding ships in close prox to others (relatively close space wise/dock area) have no shielding up and the dmg needs supported by science and science of the cool.
Book in paper form? Or electronic form? Or even internet available?
Maxima: not quite invincible, but she won’t let anyone know it
If you read the author notes you would know that her defence wasn’t maxed out.
Is anyone else picturing some sort of cheesy was it good for you moment (canon or not) after the fight?
Sorry Max, but I;m guessing that the blue blood flowing from her nose will probably give Vehemence a good idea that it is broken. No way to play it off this time.
But blue blood? Is that girl a space alien or what?
Yeah, he will be able to see that it is broken, when he stops focusing on the blue blood, hence the “Hur hur” (broke your nose) “What the fuck.” (is that blue blood or blue snot?)
Blue blood, red blush:
Her skin is opaque enough that the color of her blood doesn’t show through in a blush, but the heat from the increased blood flow causes the skin itself to change color slightly, taking on a reddish tinge. External heat sources only cause the effect if they’re intense enough to get through her defensive powers, but if that occurs, it will cause a similar reddish flush–much the way normal human skin reddens when exposed to a strong heat source.
HEADCANON APPROVED!!
I’m kind of disappointed. I wanted Vehemence to be a significant threat to Maxima, because as things stand she’s kind of boring. Invincible heroes just aren’t interesting to me.
Still time for him to be a real threat. He could have been simply underestimating her and not yet pulling out his big can of whupass.
I agree with you about the basic situation; I want to see Maxima work for a living, at least, if not get severely smacked down. For one thing, if no one can seriously threaten Maxima alone, do you really need anyone else?
watch he may tie or loose this time in one on one or with a unneeded helping hand to max from her team but he comes back later with a team he actually works with and she gets humbled until her team rescues her stomping V’s team and all take V down as a group
I’ll note that V’s expression there at the end is not so much “Oh, crap, I’m in it now” but rather “WELL now, this is rather more than I expected”. I.e., unless he’s just playing it cool and panicking inside, her ability to resist his punch was surprising, but doesn’t blow away his current plans yet. He’s seen she CAN be hurt, and if I’m right, he has yet to actually crank things up to full power.
Of course, Maxima hasn’t done that yet, either.
Just going to leave this here.

Their favorite song?
…or else Fanny Brice’s 1929 classic: “I’d Rather Be Blue (Than Be Happy With Somebody Else)”.
And at least once a year near the holidays, they play Elvis’ “Blue Christmas”.
If it was just once I could make it to the New Year without any sanity loss. I’ve already shut off the radio because it’s an election year. It doesn’t get turned back on until Dec 31 when my favorite local station starts playing it’s entire library to open the year right.
At least you don’t have (our) channel 93.3 – getting through December would be agony if we didn’t have any other stations to listen to.
See, I have no problem with Christmas music… in reasonable doses. But not all day, every day, 24/7 for the entire month! The rest of the year, it’s standard pop music, which is why the switch to all Christmas tunes for an entire month is so grating.
The most clear representation that Max has to choose and change her powers.
