Grrl Power #1482 – That’s a spicy meatball!
I think the site is… fixed? Seems to be working. I may have some behind the scenes updates to do, but nothing that should affect you guys. Yes, I’ve already changed passwords and deleted a disused admin account. Hopefully it’ll be another 15 years before the next hack.
<Narrated in a Sam Elliot voice>
People say that one time, Eat-Chicken ate an explosion, and he crapped out sticks of dynamite.
A time ago, Eat-Chicken ate a cloud, then became the rain. That rain caused record crops, then those crops ate everyone attending the Harvest Festival, and turned back into Eat-Chicken.
Long ago, Eat-Chicken at the number that came after nine. It wasn’t ten. I was another number. Countdowns used to have eleven numbers in them, but they still started at ten. It was very confusing.
There’s a tale that once upon a time, Eat-Chicken ate a chicken. Nothing much came from that. It’s not a very good tale.
Its been said that Eat-Chicken can eat the nightmares of children. Well, he eats the children, so I suppose that’s technically true.
Eat-Chicken can run so fast because it eats up the distance between two points. It’s a bit like a gross, slobbery wormhole with tooth marks.
The only thing that Eat-Chicken can’t eat… is hunger itself. Or his own teeth. Well, I suppose if one of them broke off, he could eat that. But he couldn’t eat them while they were still attached. That’s just common sense.

Oh, look who it is in the vote incentive. And a not-quite-yet-but-it’s-coming NSFW version over at Patreon.
Vote incentive and Patreon updated with some shading. Not finished yet, but progress.
I think she would get in trouble for doing this. She’d mess up the… floor of the waterfall? Is that what it’s called? The receiving pool? No, probably not that. Anyway, she’d churn things up and cause a ton of weird erosion.
Since you might be wondering, Niagara Falls is about 165 feet high, so Babezilla obviously doesn’t have to be full sized. I’d say she’s about 175-180 feet tall here?
Double res version will be posted over at Patreon. Feel free to contribute as much as you like.

Vehemence would have such a great time at this tournament! Glad to see you back
Oh gawd. Can you imagine the announcers when they finally realize that he’s not actually fighting anybody, he’s just standing off to the side, grinning…
after winning too many times in a row they’d just ban superpowers.
There’s GOT to be other users of Vehemic energy out there. Dabbler recognized his power source as an adjacent to Tantric, so either there are already bans on Vehemic Energy users, or some limit like “Cannot enter a tournament more than one time”, since I’m sure they drive up the ratings pretty well. Like having a Succubus join an Orgy tournament.
Or maybe they’re fully allowed, and it’s up to the contestants to figure out non-violent ways of dealing with them, or get them got before they gather too much energy. Like the fairy’s castle maze would’ve been a pretty effective counter to Vehemence, for example, eliminating him due to time-out even if he escaped it.
Keep in mind that the surprise reveal that they use Vehemic energy works a sum total of once. The reason he was a Maxima level threat was because he got the chance to charge up so very much before anyone engaged him and at that point it’s a slog to put him down violently because at best only a portion of the energy you put into the violence is effective because it powers him up to some degree and it’s a long way to get him down to incapacitated and unable to heal himself.
Once that edge is gone, chances are nearly everyone in the competition will form an unspoken pact to dogpile on that guy in the next round before they can charge up. Recall that there is time between rounds and being able to use Vehemic energy does not mean being able to perfectly storage and retain it without loss. Though I could see the danger of a user simply soaking up a charge from a round they aren’t in, which might be why there is so much space involved in the fields, as perhaps it’s meant to be outside of the widely acknowledged limit of most creatures ability to siphon off energy.
It’s honestly fun to think of the possible logistics here.
Actually you’ve just made the case for his support team. Between rounds everyone just tries to beat him up and each other, Vehemence clearly believed he could keep enough of that energy that he could expect to be unstoppable as long as Max was out of the picture. It might actually be a good way for Earth to make some money.
Secondary note on that thought process:
It’s also possible that no support team will ever make it possible to fly on his own power. All it would take is to make him break orbit and he’s out.
if I recall, Dabbler specifically said she’d never heard of it being a thing
She’d never heard of a human with them, but she knows of a rare type of demon that has vehemic powers.
https://www.grrlpowercomic.com/archives/comic/grrl-power-266-schooling-before-the-schooling/
First of all I agree with Tsapki. Vehemence (and presumably other users of vehemic energy) completely lacks the advantages that would allow him to survive long enough to charge and actually become a threat to these people. He would get one-shotted immediately.
Secondly, as Dabbler mentioned in 266-schooling-before-the-schooling, demons with the ability are called malumi. They are very rare. Probably still less rare than what we are seeing here in the tournament but see the first part.
Fun fact, “malum” in Latin means “cataclysm, damage, drama, evil, harm, torment” et cetera.
Also “apple.”
ahh, the reason for: cataclysm, damage, drama, evil, harm, and torment…. as well as all of it.
respect the Latin.
He could just charge up before going into a fight though.
The simplest method anti-Vehemence method would be to immediately yeet him far enough out of bounds he can’t run back in before timeout. He doesn’t have a whole lot of ground speed and I don’t think he flies.
Toss him far enough into the air that he’s falling for the thirty seconds or so it takes to ring him out and he’s done. Thirty seconds falling for a human on Earth is slightly more than a mile. Easily doable by e.g. Max. Or many of the larger contestants.
Any Vehemic energy users will need a lot more mobility than Vehemence demonstrated to compete successfully. A successful contestant needs to be a lot more well-rounded.
The only way he stays is if the other contestant has been told to make it a show. So there *has* to be fighting involved.
The real question is whether Earth will have an entry into the next interstellar Ogry tournament….
Eat-Chicken facts lol
Looking good @DaveB. The cast page is still a bit out of whack, which might interfere with Anvil’s picture in the title header?
Cast page has been busted forever. I should probably sit down and redo it.
I suppose there’s no time to start than quite like when you need to redo half the site anyway
The bug that was blanking Anvil’s pic in the page banner seems to be fixed now. I’ve tried jumping around to a bunch of random pages and haven’t found any glitches.
Ah, you’re back, congratulations.
Surreptitiously over comms: (Sydney? Any ideas?)
“Well, if Big Bird there is an Amazo knockoff, overloading him is probably a bad thing.”
(Tear out it’s core like with Sciona’s blood golem?)
“Think you can find it?”
(Good point.)
“You can always throw him into the sun.”
(Wouldn’t he EAT the sun then?)
“Maybe, but he’d get a ring-out before he got there and these guys have spaceships. They’ll figure something out.”
Just throw him out of the ring and hope he can’t return fast enough.
eat chicken once fought nuck chorris and ate a lot of blow from him!
Eat-Chicken once consumed Chuck Norris.
They both survived.
Aaaaand there’s the obligatory Mask reference. Well played sir.
I’ll say it out loud, this may get a little bit mess. Or not.
That Eat-Chicken narration sounds a lot like Chuck Norris jokes.
Also: Mega Ultra Chicken!!! (Yugioh abridged)
I think “whatever this is” might be Maxima’s speed lines? I wonder what she’s doing then. My default assumption is “something something magic eating sword”.
“Maxima speed lines” was my first thought as well, but the line at the bottom about Eat-Chicken evolving into a Mummy is making me second-guess that.
Why not forcefeed the explosion then throw it at the mountain?
Good to know that the gun protrusions didn’t disappear yet. Maybe they ran out of ammo? Otherwise I don’t know why it would have stopped firing.
I know the chicken isn’t exceptionally intelligent, but maybe the initial barrage was “ok let’s see what these things can do” -kind of moment, and it stopped sitting still and shooting aimlessly cause that would be rather poor choice for achieving pretty much anything? And even if that wasn’t the exact thought chain, whoever created the thing probably wanted it to have reasonable changes of surviving, which means staying in motion and using the load’o’dakka only when it has reasonable change of hitting someone instead of sitting still and waiting to be squatted out of existence.
“Tune in next week to find out!”
I think max noticed that while eat-chicken was reconfiguring itself that it is its weakest momment. As a result she forced it to consume and is now getting in all of he attacks across its entire body. That is wraped in speed lines.
Whatever you do Maxima, don’t let it take a chunk outta your sword…
Gail is channeling her Pokemon announcer.
And of course, there is a new evolution just as you got used to the powerset.
I wonder if it might end up being neither, so get’s removed from the field?
That mass of bandages reminds me Of Dabbler’s confinement wraps, “able to move asteroids” might help contain the big boom. Or at least allow Max to launch Eats Chicken into low orbit.
A shell that contains the big boom wouldn’t help, and might actually hurt, if the innards inside the shell are vulnerable to the boom. I’m reminded of how “The Doomsday Machine” in the Classic Trek episode was defeated.
ohh man, thats tactical genius! if max happend to have a spool of that ribbon as part of her utility kit, and you are absoluetly right it looks very remincent of it… also, there are OTHER speed lines zipping from side to side, so… the ribbon might be getting wraped manually instead of fired from a cannister.
and if not into orbit, directly at the mountain of another threat within the arena.
If the site has been updated to more modern software, does that mean that new posts will appear promptly?
Nope.
Eat-Chicken is gonna evolve into a kawaii anime yandere gyaru! And if you understand that, I am impressed.
Glad to see the site back up. Everything looks normal as far as I can tell.
Some pages lost their comment section, at random. Don’t know if those are being restored, lost to the wind, or what.
That Nemesis guy would probably do even better in this tournament.
Nah. As Sydney demonstrated the first time they fought him, he can counter any ONE thing at a time, but not more than one. He’d get caught in some sort of explosion or vortex or whatever while his ability was countering another attack, and that’d be the end of him.
I think even Eat Chicken thought they would just explode.
Is that last frame just Maxima with her amazing ginsu sword trying to make a batch of chicken nuggets?
I’m pretty sure that won’t work. ‘Cos that’s not a chicken. Maybe it was a chicken once a long time ago, but if it was, it isn’t any more. So who knows what kind of nuggets she’ll get?
Still more chickeny than a McChicken Nugget :P
Sp we have to wait for the semi finals to finish and then the final before hopefully this arc is done?
Still hoping for a lava chicken
You know, I only *just* noticed Kaboomoid is wearing some sort of clothing
or more likely explosion shaped into the appearance of clothing. My bet is on explosion-chicken
this reminds me of that one scene in X-Men First Class
Is it wrong that I’m cheering for the Chicken and want them to become a permanent character?
Eat Peri-Peri is going to get eaten by Halo.
OK, thought… Eat-chicken eats weaponry and people with powers and incorporates those into itself. Eat-chicken has gone after weapons and armor. Now it has a high energy power station in it’s belly. Eat-chicken is a self assembling power tank. Quite a war weapon actually. Send out the basic consumer form onto the battle field, end up with a army of super soldiers that assembled themselves from the defeated enemy. Now ready for the next level of battle.
Maxima might have a problem on her hands.
Questionable Content got hacked.Grrlpower got hacked, now Wilde Life http://www.wildelifecomic.com appears to be down… serial hacker that doesn’t like webcomix?
YAH!!! Back to the action…!
Eat-Chicken evolves into… Eat-Chicken Wrap!
