On the few occasions I’ve drawn ice cream or cake, I always have an oddly difficult time deciding what color it will be. I think Dabbler’s scoop started off sort of a pale yellow, like it’d be vanilla or coffee or caramel, but it wound up kind of lavender. I’m not sure what flavor that represents. I’d say taro, but of course, on Fracture Station, who knows what flavors are available, or what flavors aren’t? They’d for sure have caramel. Any civilization with access to sugar and something reasonably resembling dairy could make caramel. Coffee and vanilla and taro are the products of specific plants, but sugar is a pretty basic carbohydrate. But as previously mentioned in the comic, there are humans in space, from generations of impressment or more voluntary space ship crew recruitment methods. I mean, if you’re some some serf living ankles deep in rat droppings and a plethora of sicknesses have decimated all your neighbors and a sexy alien space captain says, “Hey, come work on my ship. We have unlimited food, no disease, and no mud that’s at least 20% shit,” you might be tempted. And if there are humans in space, it’s likely that some of those alien ships also lifted off with a crate of apricots or cinnamon trees or sugar cane or curry trees. (Okay, not curry trees. Papadam trees maybe.)

The point is that Sydney could have probably found a place selling bananas foster on Fracture Station, but she was in the wrong food court, and Dabbler’s ice cream could in fact be taro. If you’ve never had taro ice cream, it’s great. It tastes like waffle cones. And if you’ve never heard of taro, it’s like a sweet potato, only it’s kind of a pale lavender inside. I think the plural of taro is taro, but I can’t be arsed to look it up.

Two random cameos there in the 5th panel. One is George from Zombie Roomie, which I feel is a fairly self explanatory title. The other is Bex from Bex and Keit. Or maybe it’s Krooxworld? It’s not a comic about crooks. It’s about a human chick and her alien chick friend and it’s, like… Triple R rated, if that makes sense? Most of the comics have sexual jokes or implied nudity, but it never quite crosses the line? Anyway, I don’t know what George is doing in space, but Bex fits right in.

Oh look! The vote incentive has an update!

It’s not quite where I wanted it for this update. I kind of skipped over posting just the flats and started shading Heatwave, but hadn’t gotten as far as J-Watt. But I figured I’d post what I had.

I’ll hopefully have more progress soon as things here are kind of slowing down. Still putting the house together after the move, but there’s still plenty to do. The Patreon version is updated as well.

Double res version will be posted over at Patreon. Feel free to contribute as much as you like.
