Grrl Power #1386 – Space 19*69*, hur hur
Everyone’s particular disguise choices will be discussed on the next page, just FYI.
Please ignore the fact that the bridge of the ship looks totally different than the last time Sydney was on it. And also it might probably look different the next time I draw it 600 pages from now. Cora and crew do a lot of upgrades. Or maybe that other scene was set on the backup bridge for some reason? I dunno.
I do sometimes wish I was one of those artists that really enjoyed drawing meticulous technical things, be it cars, mecha, sci-fi corridors or space stations, guns or just cluttered interiors. Or spaceship bridges. But I’m just not. Even when I tried doing stuff like that in the past, like drawing a fantasy library or something full of arcane tomes, I’d get one shelf nicely detailed but then get bored with the tedium of it all and the books would get progressively thicker and the bindings less intricate and eventually the third shelf would have unpacked boxes, presumably of highly detailed books inside. I think there’s some intersection of autism and ADHD that allows people to really dive into elaborate art like that, and my balance is too far on the ADHD side. I’m like, “I should draw a cool arcane college library.” but I get an hour into it and my brain realizes that I can either spend the next 40 hours doing that, or I could draw some half-orc warrioress in a tight top standing in the foreground and unfortunately blocking the view of so many of the shelves.
I’m sure people will wonder about Sydney’s supply of special Dabbler potions, and I suspect that topic might come up later during this adventure.
There is a new one coming soon, I promise!
The vote incentive is finally done!
The update to the TWC image is pretty minor, but the Patreon version has the bonus comic as well as nude versions. I will strive to make the next one more timely.
Double res version will be posted over at Patreon. Feel free to contribute as much as you like.
Pretty sure we know a guy that can refill containers of any liquid.
Which could probably be of infinite value to Cora, right?
There’s plenty of Sci-Fi ships with more than one bridge, or bridges that transform in some way.
So having the bridge of Cora’s ship look different could be because it is different, especially as they appear to be in FTL and not in combat.
or the bridge is just holographic, so Cora can redecorate any time she feels like
I approve of Sidney’s new fit
Sydney’s disguise looks familiar. Have we seen someone of that species before? It looks somewhat like a variance of the second panel of the previous page as well.
As for the special potion. It was already said Frix was familiar with the use of them, no reason why he wouldn’t have stock of it on the ship somewhere. The only reason they needed it via Dabbler before was because they were not on the ship.
If you read Asterix and the Falling Sky, there’s an alien character named Toon from the planet Tadsilweny (an anagram of Walt Disney), now maybe he should make a cameo in a future comic?!?
with as cheap as the hardlight is, energy wise…for Cora’s crew\ship, having most interior spaces be made of hardlight with local power to both maintain and link with the rest of the ship would be wildly practical, it would lessen\eliminate any shrapnel from combat, allow for instant changes for any change in crew, and obviously, let you “rearrange” at a whim
Another suggestion to hold an approved-applicant-only contest for the technical backgrounds. Winner(s) will generate 3D files of “technical background spaces” that recur often like this bridge, med-bay, the comic shop, maybe a few conference rooms, a parking lot, the outside of the ship, etc. Maybe different contributors for different spaces. You would just rotate the background image to the angle you want and add the foreground.
I’m sure you have plenty of amateur graphic artists as fans who would love to get their work published here. Not me, sadly; my skills are elsewhere. In addition to a credit line on that day’s comic they would get some sort of reward like a cameo character, maybe one that appears in or around that specific space. Or just pay them, assuming this strip earns money?
