When Maxima came back from her first… well, not date, I guess. After she ditched the bar with Rowan. “Date” to me implies a prearranged thing, but whatever. They met at the bar, then went to a second location, so maybe that counts. Anyway, when she got back from that, she asked Dabbler to fix up the choker so her skin would feel less “weirdly silky and slippery,” so it’s obvious the second phase of that encounter went pretty well. It’s also possible that Max’s teammates are right and she’s a little pent up because she doesn’t seem like the kind of woman that would wind up making out with a guy after meeting him at a bar and only knowing him for… let’s say two hours? Doesn’t mean Rowan immediately got to second base, but even some kissing with his hands grabbing on to her waist under her shirt, he still could have been like, “Wow, uh, what kind of skin cream do you use?” Changing how Max feels to the touch is well outside the scope of what that choker was originally intended for, but Dabbler is super invested in getting Max laid, so she put some extra magical elbow grease into it.
What we’re seeing on this page is a previously unrevealed outing, since her trip to the fire station was cut short. I’m not sure when it took place… I think it’d have to be after the firehouse… yeah, maybe the day before they left on this trip? They were trying to keep to a tight schedule to minimize Max and Sydney’s “thousands of light years from Earth” time. Cora mentioned the tournament with about a week before she knew they’d have to leave for it, since she knew there’d be some hemming and hawing and possibly even some bureaucracy involved, but Max and Faulk made up their minds pretty quickly, giving them a few days to prepare.
Max is definitely not a “boobs to the face in public” kind of gal usually, but being in disguise can be fairly emboldening. And that park is weirdly bereft of other picnicers, extreme Frisbeers, kite flyers, and other couples sneaking in some second base time. Also, I think she really likes Rowan, and I assume if you’re a gal who likes a guy, at some point, maybe you want to smoosh your boobs in his face? Especially if he’s been missing more subtle signals. I’m just saying, it’s a potential weapon in the arsenal. But also in a general “I like you, so please enjoy this boob” sort of way.
In any case, despite their continued awkwardness, they might be rapidly approaching the point where Max will have to sit him down and have that dreaded discussion about chokers and why she’s always wearing one.
Finally, here we go! I took the suggestion that I just use an existing panel for a starting point, thinking it would save time… I guess it technically did, but a 5 character vote incentive just isn’t the way to go.

I could see an extra layer of shenanigans going on there, with everyone going “Ohhhh, it makes perfect sense now! You’ve got the Super body, and you’re immune to fire, of COURSE you’re going to go into the movie and stunt work business. Shame you didn’t go into firefighting, though, sure you wouldn’t like a job??” And then Max has to decide between “Yyyyyyyes, I AM a fireproof stuntwoman super” and “Uhhhh, so heeeeeere’s the thing. I maaaaaaaay be the most famous and possibly most powerful human in existence.”
This is utterly adorable and I hope we see more of Max and Rowan together.
Agreed! I realize this is a superhero(ine) comic and not a romance comic, but the Max/Rowan background arc is by far my favorite mini-arc of the series. Max needs the downtime / real life relaxation and has found a really decent (apparently?) guy who is worthy of her.
How far will they go before she reveals her “public” identity? How will he react? Since this happened right before she left the planet, it’s obvious from his reaction at the boob-squish that they haven’t gotten “a a penis stuck in something yet. Will that happen before or after the reveal? Will the reveal be planned, or accidental (Choker fail? Meet someone on the team [Sydney?] who blurts it out? A bad guy figure it out?) Speculation is half the fun!
She’s a super, he’s a fireman, sooner or later their paths will cross and he’ll have a “wait a minute” moment. Not a bad thing as long as he keeps it to himself. Max needs this connection, she’s been alone too long. I think he needs it too, Rowan has been working too hard and is too shy as well (for different reasons).
Yeah. They’re a cute couple, and I prefer it a lot more than if she was to have just gotten with Hiro or something. It grounds her more to be with someone like Rowan. :)

She was not Dr Manhatan she is below 10 of 10 ( 9 of 10) , Dr Manhatan is 11 on 10.
She is a super hero, a powerfull one , superman grade , but not a tired god.

oh no… have conversations about it sure, but the reveal… oh man, that has to be a surprise from some whacky hijinks where the choker gets deactivated mid date.
That’s going to be interesting and probably require finesse. If the relationship gets too far it’ll be close the being a deal breaker.
She’s been lying about her name, her job, her income, her appearance, etc. I’ve seen plenty of women state that men lying about that is at best misleading and at worst, criminal bordering assault if the intimacy got too far.
Luckily Max has going for her the only things that might get a man a pass as well, super attractive, wealthy, and powerful.
She’s shaped like a Super, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise.
Now I’m wondering for some reason about if she can get pregnant and how her powers would affect it if she did and whether or not she can use her force field like birth control.
Max’s body was so changed she might not be able to get pregnant by a human anymore. Besides, the military has strict rules about pregnancies and combat situations. I doubt Max would want to risk her child, so a year off for the baby sounds about right, and I’d love to see how the story line would play out as well :D Although, watching Max, 8 months along, having to “save the day” would be pretty funny. Not to mention how huge her bust will get, my skinny wife had to wear a DD maturity bra for her last 3 months. Not to mention how emotional she was…
She needs to see if Dabbler can damp her powers pretty much completely, or she may have a “Man Of Steel, Woman Of Kleenex” problem. But if it is possible to damp her powers, an enemy might figure out a way to do it in combat. A conundrum.
Lugging them around is no hardship, I can assure you from personal experience.

No, that is about the RIGHT amount of other people if you go at the correct time. Also known as “just after sunrise in the summer”. The true early birds catch the actual sunrise and are already gone. The late night people leave with/before the sun and no one else likes being up and about before 7am.
I LOVE this! I love seeing Maxima having a genuinely good time with a really nice guy.
